Topping tech headlines on Monday were photos from Windows Phone manager Joe Belfiore, which seems to confirm that Nokia's next Microsoft-based smartphone will be the Lumia 1020.
Over the weekend, Belfiore (pictured) posted a series of sample images on Flickr, two of which were shot with a phone tagged as the "Lumia 1020." Nokia will likely launch the new 41-megapixel device, codenamed EOS, at a New York press event scheduled for Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, GPS navigation company Garmin has developed the HUD, a portable device that allows a driver to display navigation information from their smartphone onto the car's windshield. A motorist can use the HUD to view real-time directions in daytime or nighttime driving situations using an iPhone, Android device, or Windows Phone 8 handset, in conjunction with the Garmin StreetPilot1 or Navigon app. The low-cost option includes the cradle for $129, and a regional map for $29.99. The HUD is scheduled to go on sale later this summer.
In other news, Samsung's Galaxy S 4 was released for two regional U.S. carriers: MetroPCS and C Spire. The popular phone is available through MetroPCS in select cities for $549 without an annual contract. C Spire is offering the phone for $199.99 with a two-year contract.
