SOFTWARE SPINNER Apple released iOS 7 beta 3 to developers on Monday, as the operating system edges closer to release.
The third and latest iOS 7 beta version arrives just two weeks after the second beta release, and is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. iOS developers will be able to download iOS 7 beta 3 via the Software Update section in the Settings menu, and it's also available to grab from the iOS Developer Portal.
So, what's new? As well as the usual slew of performance enhancements and bug fixes, iOS 7 beta 3 brings a handful of tweaks to Apple's mobile operating system. For example, the Status Bar on the lock screen has been made larger, and Apple has added a clock to the lock screen when in music playback mode.
Other tweaks include more transpaprent folders, an updated Calendar app that shows on which days you have events, user interface enhancements in Safari, Game Center and Notifications Center, an improved Mail app, redesigned music controls and a redesigned icon for apps that are downloading.
Of course there are loads more minor tweaks for developers to get to grips with, such as Siri improvements and a few user interface tweaks in the App Store. For developers who want to know more, Apple's full release notes can be found here.
It's still not known when Apple will release iOS 7 to the public, but it's likely to coincide with the launch of its next generation iPhone(s) this autumn. ?
