Help sought ID'ing credit union robber

EL CAJON, Calif. - Authorities are seeking the public's help in identifying a man responsible for a robbery at an El Cajon credit union Tuesday.

According to the FBI, at about 5 p.m. a man robbed the California Coast Credit Union at 898 Jackman Street.

Witnesses say the robber entered the bank, jumped on top of the teller counter and started shouting at bank employees to give him money, according to the FBI.

The FBI says the robber then pointed what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol at bank employees and repeatedly threatened them with the weapon. The tellers complied with the robber's demands and provided him with money.

The robber placed the money into a bag he was carrying and then jumped down from the counter and left the bank.

He discharged the weapon during the robbery, but no one was injured, according to the FBI.

The robber was last seen getting into a vehicle described as a dark green Ford Explorer or Expedition SUV driven by an unknown person.

Witnesses described the robber as a Hispanic man in his early to mid-30s, about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 180 to 200 pounds. He has dark tattoos on his right cheek and was wearing a dark knit cap, dark sunglasses a gray flannel shirt and dark pants.
