GAME DAY HEADLINES
? Utah State men's basketball will conclude its two-game, four-day weekend by hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The game between the Aggies and Islanders will not be televised but there will be live streaming and audio on the Internet.
? Now in its 108th season of basketball, Utah State has an overall record of 1,480-1,023 (.591) in its 2,503 games played.
? Utah State is 1-1 to start a season for the fourth year in a row, and a win Saturday would give the Aggies their third-straight 2-1 start to a season.
? Utah State is 70-23 (.752) during the last 13 years following a loss and has dropped back-to-back games just 20 times in the past 13 years. The last time USU lost back-to-back home games was during the 1992-93 season when it lost to UNLV and New Mexico State, a span of 325 games.
? Utah State is 1-1 at home this year and USU has won 50 of its last 56 games (.892) in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum after having its 33-game win streak snapped last season on Nov. 30, 2011 with a loss to Denver. Both games are slated for 7 p.m. tip-offs at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, as USU continues its four-game homestand to open the season. Saturday's game vs. TAMU-CC will not be televised, but will be aired on the radio on the Aggie Sports Network, along with live streaming on USU's website, www.UtahStateAggies.com.

LOOKING AT UTAH STATE
Utah State is 1-1 on the season after getting upended by Saint Mary's, 67-58, on Wednesday. USU is led by junior forward Jarred Shaw, who is averaging a double-double with 12.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game after registering his first double-double of his Aggie career with career-highs of 17 points and 15 rebounds in Wednesday's loss. Shaw also is shooting 87.5 percent (7-of-8) at the free throw line. Senior forward Kyisean Reed added 11.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg, as well as 2.5 steals and 2.5 assists per game. Reed also leads the team with a 57.1 (8-of-14) field goal percentage. Junior guard Preston Medlin is averaging 10.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg, as well as tying for the team lead with 3.0 assists per game. Offensively, USU is averaging 57.0 ppg, hitting 38.5 percent (42-of-109) from the field, as well ad 30.0 percent (9-of-30) from three-point range, in addition to 61.8 percent (21-of-34) at the free throw line. The Aggies also have a +16.0 rebounding advantage (42.5-26.5). Defensively, USU is yielding 57.5 ppg, while its opponents are shooting 42.6 percent (40-of-94) from the floor, hitting 15-of-44 (34.1 percent) behind the arc and 66.7 percent (20-of-30) at the free pitch stripe.
AGGIES RETURN THREE STARTERS
USU returns three starters among five lettermen from last year's team that finished the season with a 21-16 record, advancing to the championship game of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT). Headlining the returners is junior guard Preston Medlin, who averaged 17.0 points per game to go with 4.4 rebounds per contest, and was named first-team all-Western Athletic Conference in 2012, marking the 13th-straight year that Utah State has had at least one player earn first-team all-conference honors. For Medlin, he was just the second sophomore in school history to earn first-team all-league honors along with Nate Harris (2004). Medlin was also named the Preseason Player of the Year by both the league's coaches and media.
Despite its early exit in the 2012 WAC Tournament and fourth-place finish in the league during the regular season, Utah State's year was far from over as it accepted a bid to participate in the fourth-annual CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT), extending its postseason run to 13 straight years, as well as winning at least 21 games for the 13th-straight season.
A LOOK BACK AT THE SAINT MARY'S GAME
Junior center Jarred Shaw recorded his first-career double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds for Utah State, but Saint Mary's Matthew Dellavedova had a game-high 21 points in leading the Gaels to a 67-58 road win Thursday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Saint Mary's, who was returning a BracketBuster game from 2010-11, improves to 2-0 on the young season. Utah State's record falls to 1-1 as it lost at home for just the 19th time in head coach Stew Morrill's 15 years as the Aggies are now 211-19 inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Shaw, who redshirted last season after transferring from Oklahoma State, was 5-of-13 from the field and 7-for-8 at the free throw line to register his career-high 17 points. He also had one assist and one blocked shot to go along with his career-best 15 rebounds. Senior forward Kyisean Reed added 16 points, eight rebounds and a career-best four steals in a career-high 35 minutes, as he was 5-of-8 from the field and 6-for-10 at the free throw line. Junior forward Danny Berger added 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-6 from three. Dellavedova played all 40 minutes for Saint Mary's as he was 6-of-15 from the field, 3-of-9 from three-point range and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Stephen Holt added 16 points and former Aggie James Walker III scored 14 points off the bench to give the visitors an 18-4 scoring advantage from the reserves. Utah State scored the first six points of the game before Saint Mary's tied the contest at 12-all at the 13:58 mark. The Gaels then took its first lead of the night at the 10:27 mark on a three-pointer from Beau Levesque and SMC never trailed again as it led by as many as five in the first half before going into the locker room with a 34-31 advantage. Saint Mary's shot a blistering 66.7 percent from both the field (14-21) and three-point range (6-9) in the first 20 minutes, while Utah State shot just 34.4 percent overall (11-32) and just 22.2 percent from behind the arc (2-9). However, USU did convert 7-of-11 (.636) free throws and had twice as many rebounds (22-11), including a 13-0 advantage on the offensive glass. Dellavedova and Walker III each had 12 first-half points for the Gaels, while Reed had eight to lead USU. Utah State went ice cold offensively to start the second half as it made just one of its first eight field goal attempts and committed five turnovers during that stretch as Saint Mary's went on a 9-2 run to take its first double-digit lead of the night at 43-33 with 13:48 remaining. USU then scored five-straight points to get within 43-38, only to see SMC score five straight to increase its lead back to 10. The Aggies later got within three at 54-51 with 4:59 to play following a tip-in by Shaw and a three-pointer from Berger, but the Gaels answered with a 9-1 run to go up 11 and made eight straight free throws during the final 3:12 to notch the nine-point win. After shooting 66.7 percent in the first-half, Utah State held Saint Mary's to just 7-of-25 (.280) shooting in the second half and the Gaels finished the game shooting 45.7 percent overall (21-45), including 40.9 percent from three-point range (9-22) and 69.6 percent at the free throw line (16-23), as SMC made its final 14 free throws of the game. Utah State shot just 32.3 percent for the game (20-62), including 30.0 percent (9-30) in the second-half. USU was also just 1-of-7 (.143) from three in the final 20 minutes as it shot just 18.8 percent from behind the arc (3-16) for the game. USU was also 15-of-24 (625) from the free throw line. Utah State did dominate the glass as it out-rebounded Saint Mary's by 19 (49-30), including a 24-6 advantage in offensive boards. USU also had one more assist (12-11), three more blocks (4-1) and three more steals (7-4) in the game, to go along with two fewer turnovers (12-10).
SHAW POSTS FIRST CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Junior center Jarred Shaw's double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds were both career highs, for both his USU career and his Oklahoma State career. Shaw's double-double is the Aggies' first of the season. Shaw's 15 rebounds were the most by an Aggie player since Nate Bendall had 16 rebounds against Fresno State on Jan. 11, 2011.

MORE ON UTAH STATE'S RETURNERS
Utah State returns one of the best overall players in the WAC at shooting guard in junior guard Medlin who started all 37 games for the Aggies as a sophomore. Medlin, who earned first-team all-WAC honors a year ago, finished the season averaging 17.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, while shooting 49.6 percent from the field (204-of-411), 42.8 percent from three-point range (95-of-202) and 80.1 percent at the free throw line (125-of-156).
As a sophomore, Medlin scored in double-figures 31 times, including 20-plus points 13 times, and a career-high 32 points against Idaho. He finished the year ranking second in the WAC and 16th in the nation in three-point shooting, third in the WAC and 80th in the nation in points per game, and 10th in the WAC and 75th in the nation in overall shooting. Medlin also ranked fourth in the league in free throw shooting, seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.70) and ninth in assists.
Utah State's most experienced position heading into the 2012-13 season will be at power forward as it returns two proven players here from a year ago in senior starter Kyisean Reed and sophomore reserve Ben Clifford. Reed, who is perhaps the most athletic post-player in the WAC, was named to the league's all-newcomer team a year ago as he averaged 10.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game, while shooting 61.4 percent from the field and 67.9 percent at the free throw line. He finished the season ranking first in the WAC in field goal shooting, sixth in blocked shots and 14th and rebounding, and had an eye-popping 40 dunks to also rank first in the conference. Reed was named a Preseason second-team all-WAC selection.
After redshirting his first year at Utah State, Clifford played in 36 games, starting four, in 2012 and finished the season averaging 4.4 points and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting 50.9 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from three-point range and 72.9 percent at the free throw line in 16.8 minutes per outing.
UTAH STATE LOSES TWO STARTERS AND FIVE LETTERWINNERS FROM 2012 CIT RUNNER-UP TEAM
Utah State lost two starters in guard Brockeith Pane and forward Morgan Grim and three other letterwinners (forward Mitch Bruneel, guard E.J. Farris and guard Adam Thoseby) from last year's CollegeInsiders.com Tournament runner-up team. Pane was a two-time WAC honoree and was MVP of the 2011 WAC Tournament. Pane averaged 12.6 points, 4.3 and 3.0 rebounds per game in playing all 37 games last season. Grim averaged 9.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game in starting all 37 contests a year ago. USU also lost 2011 starter, forward Brady Jardine, who played in only three games of the 2011-12 season before suffering a career-ending foot injury. Jardine averaged 7.7 points and 7.7 rebounds in those three games played last season.

AGGIES KICK OFF SEASON WITH FOUR-STRAIGHT HOME GAMES FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1996-97
For the first time since the 1996-97 season, Utah State will play its first four games of the 2012-13 season in the friendly home confines of the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, where the Aggies have won 100 of their last 107 games and have amassed a 210-18 (.921) record at home under head coach Stew Morrill. USU has a 105-8 (.929) record in non-conference home games during that time. In all, eight of the Aggies' 11 non-conference games this season are at home.
USU TO FACE THREE IN-STATE FOES THIS SEASON
Utah State will face three in-state teams this season, hosting one of them and playing at the other two. The Aggies will host Weber State on Saturday, Nov. 24 and play at Brigham Young on Wednesday, Dec. 5 and at Utah Valley on Saturday, Dec. 15.
AGGIES TO FACE SIX TEAMS WITH 2012 POSTSEASON EXPERIENCE THIS SEASON
Utah State's 2012-13 schedule includes six teams that participated in postseason play last season. Highlighting the Aggies' non-conference schedule will be a home game against Saint Mary's, the defending West Coast Conference champions and an NCAA Tournament team from a year ago, as well as a home game against in-state foe Weber State, who played in last year's Collegeinsider.com Postseason Tournament. Two of the six teams are in-state, as they'll travel south to take on Brigham Young, an NCAA Tournament participant, and Utah Valley, who played in last season's Collegeinsider.com Postseason Tournament after winning its second-straight Great West Conference regular-season championship. USU's eighth and final season in the WAC will also include two postseason teams, facing defending conference champion and NCAA Tournament participant New Mexico State as well as WAC-newcomer UT Arlington, who played in last year's National Invitational Tournament after winning the Southland Conference regular-season title.
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
The Islanders are 1-0 on the season after losing at Denver, 68-51, on Wednesday. TAMU-CC is led by junior forward Will Nelson with 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Hameed Ali added 12.0 ppg to go with 3.0 assists per game, tying a career-high with 15 points against DU, and added four steals. Sophomore guard Johnathan Jordan tallies 11.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg. Sophomore center Nate Maxey is tied with Nelson for the team rebounding lead with 7.0 rpg and adds 3.0 blocks per game to go with 5.0 points per game. As a team, TAMU-CC average 55.5 ppg, shooting 36.9 percent (41-of-111) from the field, hitting just 6-of-34 (17.6 percent) from long-range, as well as 23-of-32 (71.9 percent) at the free throw line. The Islanders has a +5.5 rebounding advantage. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's opponents are making 39.4 percent (37-of-94) of their field goals, as well as 16-of-48 (33.3 percent) from three-point range, as well as 27-of-44 (61.4 percent) at the charity stripe. The Islanders are dishing out 10.5 assists per game while swiping 6.5 steals per contest and blocking 4.5 shots per game. TAMU-CC is also averaging 10.5 turnovers per game.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is the only Southland Conference team that USU does not have at least a .500 record against, as the Aggies are 6-1 against Oral Roberts, 1-0 against Lamar, 1-1 against Northwestern State and 0-1 against TAMU-CC. The Islanders are the last team that USU has played from the Southland Conference, last year at Corpus Christi.
UTAH STATE VERSUS THE STATE OF TEXAS
Utah State is 23-10 (.697) all-time against teams from the state of Texas as it is 8-1 against North Texas, 2-0 against Houston Baptist, TCU and Texas, 2-1 versus Texas Tech, 1-0 against Baylor, Lamar, Midwestern State, Texas Southern and WAC newcomer UT Arlington, 1-1 against Houston, 1-2 versus Texas A&M, 1-4 against UTEP and 0-1 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The last time Utah State played a team from the Lone Star State was UT Arlington on Dec. 20, 2011 in last season's Athletes In Action Classic sponsored by Gossner Foods, winning 73-69. With the new additions to the WAC, Utah State will face a total of four teams from Texas this season. In addition to Saturday's non-conference game against TAMU-CC, the Aggies will also play WAC newcomers UTSA, Texas State and UT Arlington.
UTAH STATE IN NOVEMBER
Utah State is 50-18 (.735) during the month of November under Morrill, which includes a 26-2 record at home, suffering its first loss in the month last season to Denver, 67-54, on Nov. 30, 2012, which also snapped USU's 29-straight home game win streak during November. The last time that USU played on Nov. 17 was in 2010, losing at BYU, 78-72, for the Aggies' first loss on the date after winning their previous five games, for a 5-1 record on Nov. 17.

Utah State has two players on its current roster from the state of Texas in junior guard Preston Medlin (Carrollton, Texas/Hebron HS) and junior center Jarred Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Carter HS/Oklahoma State).
LAST MEETING AGAINST TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
Senior forward Morgan Grim recorded his first-ever double-double with a career-high 20 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in Utah State's 58-55 overtime loss at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi on Nov. 22, 2011. Utah State, who was playing its first game without senior forward Brady Jardine following a foot injury in its last outing, falls to 2-2 on the season with the loss and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi improves to 1-2 with the win. Entering the game, USU had won five straight overtime games dating back to the 2006 season, 51 straight games when leading at the half and 28 straight games when allowing less than 60 points. Senior guard Brockeith Pane finished with 15 points for Utah State, while freshman guard Adam Thoseby added nine points of the bench as he was 3-of-5 from three-point range. Junior forward Kyisean Reed grabbed a season-best 10 rebounds to go along with four points. Myron Dempsey had 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and Terence Jones scored 14 points. Trailing 38-35 with 7:01 to play, Utah State finally got going offensively and went on a 10-1 run to take a 45-39 lead with 3:12 remaining following a Pane free throw. However, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi finished the game on an 8-2 run, including the tying basket with five seconds to play sending the game into overtime. USU had a chance to extend a two-point lead with 31 seconds to play, but sophomore guard Preston Medlin missed the front-end of a one-and-one free throw. Utah State scored the first two points of overtime on a Pane jumper and led 53-52 with 1:34 left following a pair of free throws from Pane, but on the next possession the Islanders Hameed Ali hit a three-pointer giving the home team a 55-53 lead. TAMUCC then hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final 17 seconds to preserve the win. Utah State finished the game shooting just 33.3 percent (19-57), its worst offensive performance since the 2005-06 season. The Aggies did convert 4-of-9 (.444) three-pointers and 13-of-18 (.722) free throws. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi shot 37.9 percent overall (22-58), including just 11.8 percent from behind the arc (2-17) and just 54.5 percent at the free throw line (12-22). Both teams grabbed 42 rebounds in the game, while Utah State had four more turnovers (16-12) and six fewer assists (12-6). Utah State's largest lead of the first-half was at 8-4 and later 16-12 following baskets by Grim. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi led by two on three different occasions during the first stanza including at 21-19 before sophomore forward Mitch Bruneel hit a three-pointer from the right wing to give the visitors a 22-21 lead at intermission. Grim led Utah State with 10 points and five rebounds in the first-half as Utah State shot just 29.6 percent (8-27), including 40.0 percent from three-point range (2-5) and 80.0 percent at the free throw line (4-5). Texas A&M - Corpus Christi shot just 33.3 percent (10-33) during the first 20 minutes, including 0-of-8 from three-point range and 1-for-3 at the charity stripe.

#5 Jarred Shaw (6-11/245/JR/C/Dallas, Texas) - Posted first career double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds in loss to Saint Mary's on Thursday, which were both career highs for both his USU career and his Oklahoma State career.... Led USU in scoring for the first time this season and 23rd time in last two seasons with 14 points against Idaho State... Added five rebounds, three assists and one blocked shot in 36 minutes of action... Scored in double-figures for the 32nd time in his career with 14 points in Idaho State game, but had streak of six-straight games in double figures halted with only seven in Saint Mary's game... Also had streak of games with multiple three-pointers in a game stopped at six-straight times but has 38 career games with multi-three-pointers... Cracked into the USU top 10 for three-pointers made now with 113 and maintained No. 5 spot on Aggies' career three-point shooting percentage at 42.3 percent, as well as moving into No. 10 on career three-point attempts list with 268, tying former teammate Brian Green (2010-11)... Ranked tied for seventh in the WAC in three-point field goal percentage (.500) as well as fourth in assist-turnover ratio (3.0) and tied for 10th in assists (3.0)... Also tied for fourth for minutes played (36.0).

Guard Preston Medlin finished the 2011-12 season ranking 16th in the nation in three-point shooting (.428), 55th in three-point field goals made per game (2.57), 75th in field goal percentage (.496), and 80th in scoring (17.0).
MEDLIN RANKS 10TH ALL-TIME AT UTAH STATE IN SINGLE-SEASON SCORING
Guard Preston Medlin scored his 600th point of the season against Oakland (3/25) and finished the year with 628 points to rank 10th all-time at USU for single-season scoring. Overall, those 628 points are the second-most ever scored by a underclassmen in USU history trailing Marvin Roberts who scored 718 points as a sophomore in 1969. Medlin's 500th point came against Hawai'i (3/3) marking the 49th time in school history that USU has had a player score 500 points in a single year.
MEDLIN ONE OF SIX SOPHOMORES IN SCHOOL HISTORY TO LEAD TEAM IN SCORING
Guard Preston Medlin is among rare company when it comes to underclassmen leading Utah State in scoring as he is one of just six sophomores in school history dating back to the 1957-58 season to lead the team in scoring. Since the 1957-58 season, the only sophomores to lead USU in scoring have been Cornell Green who averaged 23.6 points during the 1959-60 season, Wayne Estes who averaged 19.9 points during the 1962-63 season, Marvin Roberts who averaged 27.6 points during the 1968-69 season, Greg Grant who averaged 17.4 points during the 1983-84 season, and Kendall Youngblood who averaged 15.4 points during the 1989-90 season. This year, Medlin averaged 17.0 points per game.
MEDLIN RANKED AMONG TOP 10 AT UTAH STATE IN SEVERAL SINGLE-SEASON CATEGORIES
Guard Preston Medlin ranks third all-time at USU for a single-season with 95 made three-pointers trailing Jaycee Carroll who made 114 during the 2007-08 season and Reid Newey who made 98 during the 1988-89 season. Medlin also ranks fourth all-time at USU for three-point attempts in a single-season with 222 behind Carroll who attempted 229 in 2007-08, Newey who attempted 224 in 1988-89, and Jay Goodman who attempted 223 in 1992-93. Medlin also ranks second all-time in school history for minutes played in a season with 1,302 behind Carroll who played 1,304 minutes in 2008.
GRIM AND MEDLIN SET SINGLE-SEASON SCHOOL RECORD FOR GAMES STARTED

Senior forward Morgan Grim, sophomore guard Preston Medlin and senior guard Brockeith Pane all set single-season school records this year for games played with 37. The previous single-season record for games played was 35 set by numerous players during the 2006-07 season, the 2007-08 season, the 2008-09 season and the 2009-10 season.
BERGER SCORES IN DOUBLE-FIGURES 10 TIMES AS A SOPHOMORE
Sophomore guard/forward Danny Berger scored 13 points in his last game of the year against Mercer (3/28) for his 10th double-figure scoring game of the season. Overall, Berger scored in double-figures three times in his final six games including tying his career-high with 17 points against Oakland (3/25) as he made a career-best five three-pointers which is tied for the most in a postseason game in school history. During his last five games, Berger averaged 8.6 points and 3.6 rebounds, while shooting 50.0 percent from the field (13-26), 52.6 percent from three-point range (10-19) and 87.5 percent at the free throw line (7-8). Berger sat out the first six games of the year as a potential redshirt before seeing his first action of the season at Pacific (12/3).
