Purpose of the role

GlobalCollect focuses its sales efforts on specific high growth vertical markets, such as Travel, Software, Retail and Gaming.

The Global Market Director Retail is responsible for driving market dominance and revenue generation in the Retail industry and works on developing a reputation within GlobalCollect and the industry as the industry champion and expert by providing thought-leadership, strategic planning and sharing best-practices.

The Global Market Director? works cross-departmental (i.e. Business Development, Global Account Management, Alliances, Marketing & Communications, Product Management and Payment Partnerships) and will work closely together with key stakeholders such as the CCO and VP Global Marketing to create, implement and manage the global vertical business plan relevant to his or her market.

Deliverables / Tasks

Enhance the reputation of GlobalCollect within the industry as the industry champion and expert through the following actions:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the industry and its sub-segments
  • Perform detailed analysis of GC?s business performance, and competitor trends
  • Research and analyze merchant performance, perceptions, needs and frustrations, identify purchase dynamics
  • Develop key relationships with industry leaders (merchants, alliances, analysts, media, associations, etc.)
  • Gather and value industry insights and research across the organization
  • Anticipate and drive changes in the industry before competition
  • Deliver global vertical market sales & marketing plan

Global Account Management/Business Development

  • Evaluate industry potential, determine new business opportunities
  • Formulate sales recommendations and action plans, in collaboration with Sales VP?s, including development of globally important target merchants
  • Optimize sales engagement of key global merchants, and at global events
  • Lead and enhance global communication, knowledge sharing and cooperation across vertical teams
  • Develop and design internal training tools and sales collaterals
  • Train and coach on industry specifics
  • Review key industry proposals, RFP and pricing, potentially establishing standard pricing regimens within sub-verticals
  • Level-2 support on critical sales projects
  • Facilitate industry team knowledge sharing (SalesForce, conf calls, yearly offsite, etc.)
  • Participate and weigh in hiring process of new industry team members, as well as in quarterly reviews and yearly appraisals of the industry team individuals

Alliances

  • Help identify and develop strategic partnerships to help build out the required industry ecosystem
  • Work with existing industry partners to leverage joint capabilities (offering, marketing, etc.)

Marketing & Communications

  • Propose, help design and coordinate, and review effectiveness for all industry-related Marcom projects and initiatives, events and campaigns:
    • Analysts & media relations (conferences, websites, magazines, etc.)
    • Content/messaging (website, newsletters, press releases, advertorials, white papers, market analytics/studies, blogging, social networking, collaterals, etc.)
    • Service offerings (webinars, regional workshops, Perspectives)
    • Etc.
  • Demonstrate and present GC industry expertise and solutions before audiences of merchants, media and industry analysts.

Product Management & Payment Partnerships

  • Develop global industry strategy and roadmap for new and existing products:
    • Translate industry consumer and merchant feedback, including unmet needs and dissatisfactions, into product features and benefits
    • Drive industry innovation and create a customer-friendly process flow
    • Evaluate industry competition and identify opportunities for differentiation
    • Where necessary, create industry-specific procedures and pricing structures (e.g. airlines)

Other departments

  • Further develop industry knowledge at Merchant Implementations, Merchant Services, Credit & Risk, and Product Development

Experience

  • A proven track record in business-to-business Sales and relationship management with extensive sales cycles
  • Sales and/or marketing experience in specific vertical
  • Experience in managing a sales team and/or have business unit experience
  • 7+ years of commercial experience in payments or e-commerce industry with a focus on the Retail industry or 7+ years of relevant work experience in a financial/commercial role in the Retail industry
  • A Masters degree
  • Experience in a multicultural business environment and/or international role
  • Exposure to or familiarity with technological and financial concepts
  • Prior experience in the payments industry is a plus

Other significant role requirements

  • (International) travel
  • English language capability ? Additional foreign language skills a plus

Technical Knowledge

  • As this is a sale of a technology/financial services product, and as such, candidates are expected to be conversant in payment technology
  • Internet savvy ? knowing where ecommerce stands today and where it will go tomorrow
