People?s most famous relaxation and amusement method over the centuries is also represented by the diversified range of card games, which date back to the 9th century, being known for the first time in the Far East, during the Chinese Tang dynasty. As we all know, a normal deck of cards contains 54 cards among which 2 are called ?Jokers?. The rest of the cards are divided into groups of four, having written on the front side numbers from 2 to 10, and in addition, other 4 special markings: Jack, Queen, King and Ace. To render them unique, there are also 4 different types of cards: hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds.
All games differ depending on the region, culture and from person to person and can be played within the society, family and other smaller circles. Here are a few of the most popular card game:
-????????? Poker ? is probably the most popular card game in the whole world, statistics showing that around 45 million people have played it at least once in their life. There are many versions of the poker game, among which the most popular being Texas Hold?em and 5 cards Poker (5 Card Draw). Texas Holdem is the most popular online version on the Internet and rules are quite easy: there must be at least 2 players, each of them getting 2 cards. Another 5 cards will be set on the table in a specific order if bets are made on that game. The first 3 cards on the table represent the Flop, the 4th represents the Turn and the last card is the river. Generally, the Texas Hold?em Poker is played with chips (replacing money) or directly with real money. The 5 card draw is best played in 4, the selected cards usually being from 7-8 and up.
-????????? Another card game usually popular with men is Whist. Depending on the number of players (from 4 up), the cards to be inserted in the game are selected, and usually have to be the players? number multiplied by 8. The game consists in the winning of as many ?hands? as possible; before each round, the players must state exactly how many hands they will win, each extra or minus hand being afterwards deducted from their scores. A regular game of Whist starts with 8 games by using all the 32 available cards, further on each player receiving one card less until only one card remains. Then, players end up being unable to see their own card, only the opponents?; after 8 such games, in each of the following ones one more card is added increasingly until reaching again 8 games of 8 cards. The scoring system is as follows: each player gets 5 points for a winning a round, plus other points representing the equivalent of the hands won. At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins.
-????????? Blackjack is part of a series of card games found in the most famous casinos in the world. Blackjack or ?21? as it is called in certain areas can be played with minimum 2 players. Each of the players gets 2 cards, one face up and the other, face down. The value of the cards from 2 to 10 is normal, while the cards following 10 get 10 points each. The Ace can also be used as 1 point or 11 points depending on the player?s needs. In order to win, players must sum up as many points as possible without exceeding a total of 21.
-????????? War is one of those card games that are specific to younger ages. It is still a fun game and requires at least 2 players. All the cards are equally dealt to all players and with each round, they turn, face up, the first card from their deck. Who has the biggest card wins that group of cards, and if there are two players with the same card, then they call ?War?. The players will choose a number of cards that they will play ?War? with and each puts down the corresponding number from their decks. The last card down will make the difference and decide who will win all the other cards. In the end, the player who gets all the cards also wins the ?War?.
Other more or less famous card games are: Seven, Macaw, Killer surrender, Machu Pichu, The letter etc. At the same time, one of the most famous online card games that can be played by a single player is Solitaire, which can also be found in other versions (Spider Solitaire, Scarab Solitaire). All these games are meant to help people socialize people easier within different groups.

During a charity golf outing a week ago, retired Will County Judge Stephen White made the rest of his foursome wait while he was interviewed by TruTV?s ?In Session? about jury selection for the Drew Peterson murder trial, a case White handled before he retired.
?Of course I couldn?t say anything (about the delay),? said Scott Pyles, chairman of the Democratic Party, who was golfing with White. ?Because he was still carrying us.?
White confirmed the report about his new demanding media career ? and Pyles? poor golfing. The group used only one of Pyles? scores for all 18 holes. How many of White?s were used?
?A lot more than that,? White said.
Going for the win
Pyles may struggle at golf. But he feels pretty confident he will win an appeal of a recent Will County Electoral Board ruling that knocked eight Democrats off the Will County Board ballot in November.
Pyles tells the story of another case he handled for Rich Girot, who was kicked off the ballot for mayor in Braidwood in 2003.
Pyles lost that case at the electoral board, the circuit court and the appellate court levels. But he won at the supreme court by a vote of 6-1.
The final win didn?t come until more than a year after the Braidwood election, however. Pyles is hoping for a more timely decision in the Will County case.

On the plus side
Joliet got through the first half of its fiscal year with an operational surplus of $401, according to Councilman Michael Turk, finance committee chairman.
Anything in the black is positive, said Turk. But the drop in casino tax revenues has hurt the city?s cash flow, he said. The city also incurred a big, one-time payout in the transfer of Splash Station Waterpark debt to the Joliet Park District.
A midyear budget update is being planned for the council?s Aug. 6-7 meetings.
On the road
After the Aug. 6-7 meetings, the Joliet City Council takes its regular meetings on the road for three months while the council chambers are remodeled.
The pre-council workshop meetings will stay at City Hall in a conference room. Regular meetings will go to Plainfield South High School, Joliet Central High School, Joliet Junior College, the Joliet Historical Museum, and Joliet Township High School?s administrative building.
Assistant City Manager Ben Benson said the remodeling project is expected to start Aug. 9.
