Taylors Sky cementing his way for unprecedented success
The truly phenomenal greyhound trainer, Charlie Lister, has been blessed with the talent of conditioning winner after a winner. His entries in any race are feared the most. In the case of Westmead Hawk and his son, Taylors Sky, it will be difficult to say if the trainer was lucky to have them or were the hounds fortunate to get the hall mark trainer to attend to them.
The two had, and in case of Taylors Sky, will bring him success and prosperity. First, Taylor Sky?s sire brought the 2005 and 2006 English Greyhound Derby for the kennel and now the son is following right in the tracks. It seems highly unlikely that the three-year-old white and blue dog will disappoint the trainer in future too.
The young hound under the ownership of Steve and Becky Taylor already is very popular due to the 2011 English Greyhound Derby and also the title of 2011 Greyhound of the Year. He was awarded the honour by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain for winning thirteen out of the seventeen races the previous year.
From the dam, Rising Angel, it took the three-year-old only ten career outings to prove himself worthy for contesting the 2011 English Greyhound Derby. He was entered as the 100 to 1 in the qualifying rounds, and managed getting the icing on the cake even before it was baked.
The incredible racing icon broke the track record in the quarter finals. Adding further glamour and glitz to his success, Taylors Sky won from the trap that had defeated hounds racing out of it for the last twenty-six years.
He took off from the red box, and took charge of the track from the first bend, he did not only win by the massive margin of 5 ? lengths, but was remarkable enough to set yet another track record.
He completed the trip in 28.17 seconds.
Besides the Derby, he has accumulated the winning titles of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup and the Primus Telecom Derby. The 2011 Greyhound of the Year is already the most popular entry for the 2012 English Greyhound Derby.
